Position will report to the Manager of Commissioning/Optimization.  This is a junior/entry level position.  A Metallurgical or Chemical engineering degree is required with 0 - 5 years experience. Position will play a key role in supporting successful startup of equipment at the customer site, The position also will participate in the optimization studies to improve process and equipment performance.

Position is located in Salt Lake City, Utah.  

Position will require extensive travel including the America's, Africa, Australia, Asia and Russia/CIS up to 70% of time.  Travel could include prolonged periods.  70% travel.  Might be gone for 2-3 weeks at a time.

Will participate in the front end engineering of mineral processing systems and plants.  Position will report to the Manager of Commissioning/Optimization.  This is a mid to senior level position.  A Metallurgical or Chemical engineering degree is required with 5-10 years experience. The Mineral Processing Specialist will lead in the basic design and engineering of minerals process flow sheets.  This could include small systems or process islands up to green field plant design.  The position will direct and oversee any test work required complete the basic engineering and oversee detail engineering.       

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to customer interface, proposal generation development of PFD’s mass balances, P&ID oversight, and project oversight.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Plan, implement and direct all engineering and process design functions to support the company’s mineral processing projects worldwide. The Director of Engineering is responsible for providing accurate and timely support to assure successful project execution reports to the Vice President Global Systems..

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
  

  • Provide overall planning and direction of all engineering disciplines (functions) including document control and personnel to support company policies.  

  • Manage the mineral processing team engineering resources to assure timely, cost effective , technically sound design to projects.  Metric will be quality Non conformance claims filed based on engineering documentation provided to internal and external clients. 

  • Provide the steps to place the organization in a leadership role with respect to plant designs in the markets served. Lead the effort in rolling out advanced 3D based plant design software. 

 

  • Lead the effort in supporting corporate initiatives for utilization of Indian resources. 

  • Where resources permit, provide timely engineering and design/ technical support to sister companies to support and facilitate successful project execution within these organizations. 

  • Lead the roll out of all engineering standards, policies, and procedures for plant design for use in company’s minerals companies. 

  • Provide  engineering input, as required, for estimating and bid proposal activities. 

  • Direct and monitor all personnel activities within the engineering area, including manpower forecasting, salary adjustments, staff assignments, promotions, performance reviews and other functions related to personnel as required.  

  • As required, support sales activities with technical input and/or participation in client presentations and internal company sales/training meetings.. 

  • Support and insure all personnel are trained in the company QA/QC procedures and these procedures are incorporated on all projects. 

  • Work with senior staff internationally managing the fine tuning and implementation of the strategic and business plans to support overall corporate objectives.  

  • Assess and recruit for  the new staffing requirements for new corporate initiatives such as SmartPlant software and the roll out of SXEW technologies. 

  • Support LEAN and Helios activities as outlined by company policies. 

  • Monitor client satisfaction and input on all projects 

  • Insure that required certificates, permits, stamps and licenses are secured and maintained in accordance with client and local government requirements.   

  • Will manage an international headcount of 115 which is expected to grow an additional 70+ in headcount over the next year.  Will manage teams of Mechanical Engineers, Civil Engineers, Structural Engineers, Process Engineers, Project Engineers, Software Engineers etc. 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Position requires an engineering degree and a broad background in the various fields of engineering. An advanced technical or management degree preferred. Over ten(10) years of related engineering and design experience required.

With a minimum of 10 years previous experience. Must have strong troubleshooting skills with circuit boards by relying on schematics along with troubleshooting tools such as multimeters and oscilloscopes. Previous experience troubleshooting products that contain digital circuits with microcontrollers and DSPs is useful. Must have a good working knowledge of computers, Windows and basic networking. Previous experience troubleshooting Windows (such as installing drivers) is required. Must be able to write test procedures for circuit boards and sub-systems. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions is needed.  Software validation testing experience is useful. Previous work with writing software code in 'C' and Visual Basic is important. Ability to write software tests as well is needed. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS - Requires a four-year Engineering degree; advanced degree preferred. Five to 15 years design engineering experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires an advanced level of working knowledge of various computer software packages.  Experience in SmartPlant highly desirable. Must be capable of exercising independent judgment in evaluating, selecting, and applying standard design engineering techniques, procedures and criteria to make minor design adaptations and modifications. Professional Engineering License (PE) preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & REQUIREMENTS - Develop the project plan (schedule) and lead, manage and control a task force to ensure the completion of a project by attaining schedule, optimizing margin and meeting parameters of quality acceptable to the client and company Inc. Meet project objectives, recognizing client's needs and ensure client satisfaction within the guidelines of the contract. #111-8  Computation Fluid Dynamics Engineer Salt Lake City, Utah

We currently have an opportunity available for a  Computational Fluid Analyst (CFD Analyst) who will apply proprietary and commercial computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software, as well as other computational software, to provide flow,  thermal, and combustion modeling analyses and design support for development and commercialization of new chemical and mineral processing systems and  environmental equipment.

The engineer will:

Apply both proprietary and commercial computational software.
Work closely with other engineering groups to define the modeling  objectives, obtain the required model inputs, and to review the modeling results.
Present modeling results to both internal and external customers, in the form of written reports and oral presentations.
Interface with the development engineers of company's proprietary flow and  combustion software to provide feedback on needed enhancements.
Review technical work of other engineers performing modeling projects.

Job Requirements
   Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in  mechanical or chemical engineering or other related fields. A master’s  degree or equivalent experience in one of these disciplines is highly  desired.  Candidate should preferably have strong skills in the following disciplines: Multiphase, Thermal, Coupled field, FSI, and combustion simulations.  Exposure to testing will be an added advantage.  Calculations in the field of: machine elements, heat transmission, flow.  Calculations performed with CFD software, preferably ANSYS CFX, ICEM and SolidWorks. Oversee certain hazardous waste removal projects.  Oversee risk management program as it relates to various environmental laws and act including the Clean Air Act requirements.  Oversee certain consent decree programs.  Conduct soil and groundwater samplings.  Administer and coordinate training on Clean Water Act, RCRA, OPA 90 and DOT regulations as required. Interpret and implement federal, state and local laws regarding industry issues.  Coordinate training for OPA 90 OSHA 1910-120. Assess risk and corrective action technology.
     

5+ years experience.  BS/Chemical Engineering.  Will consider an Environmental, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering degree if they have experience working with environmental regulations, and part of that experience has to be with Air Quality regulations.
     

Certification or the ability to obtain certification for DOT Hazmat Shipping, OSHA Hazmat, and Method 9 Opacity is required. Knowledge of Microsoft products such as Outlook, Word, and Excel is required.  SAP and DataStream experience is preferred. Special training in OSHA, HAZMAT, Spill Management, Fire Fighting, Hydrogeology and Geology is desired for some assignments and is required for others.     This position will support our  client's business by carrying out end-use property testing of greases and lubricants using our additives.  In addition to supporting existing products the ideal candidate will also assist in developing new products and technology for this market by evaluating new materials.  The individual will be responsible for leading the design and engineering of projects related to grease manufacture. They will work with customers to recommend processes and equipment in addition to solve problems at customer location.  Additional abilities either in the traditional QC lab area or in organic synthesis highly desirable.
